So far my past week or so in London has been amazing. My house/roommates are crazy, odd, and some are just annoying. But there are also a couple of nice people that I am glad to have met (and would have never had crossed paths with at school).
I've gone to a lot of museums and the best thing about London is that they are all free. So even though you have to pay to get their (most places on the weekdays are only £4 pounds round trip). One day almost the entire house went to Cambridge. I didn't go because I've already been there and I had just gone to Oxford. So that day I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum and had an amazing time. I think I spent about 3 hours there. It is so large and so far has been my favorite museum (plus it just seemed easier to navigate than the British Museum). Pictures of different things I saw: Last Saturday most of my roommates went on a Dover/Bath/Windsor Castle tour. It was approximately $120 and that wasn't in my budget. So four of us who didn't go decided to spend the day in Greenwich. I believe I had the best time so far that day. We took the tube out but we didn't check the service information and so we had to get off and find another way to go. We decided to walk through what we found out later was EAST LONDON. Ok, east london=south central LA. But we were fine and eventually found our way to Canary Wharf.
Once we got to Canary Wharf, we took a five minute boat to Greenwich (£2.50). By the time we actually got to Greenwich we were very hungry (we had been walking/getting lost for over an hour), we went to Pizza Express (like Mellow Mushroom). The two girls split a pizza and the two guys split one. With water for the drink my total was £3. By now it was after 5 pm (we left our house at about 2pm). So all the museums were closed, however the grounds were still open and so was the big park (I'm sure it has a proper name...I don't remember). We decided to hang around the park and walked up to the Royal Observatory and saw the prime meridian. That has to be the least remarkable historical site in the world. It's a line. That's it.
Afterwards we found our way home (many buses and trains later). It was a fun, cheap day for $19!
